The shooting took place just before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 on the 200 block of Ivy Road in Edgewater Park Towship, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina alongside Edgewater Park Police Chief Brett Evans.

Sameil M. Barrett, 23, of Willingboro was fatally shot while sitting inside a parked car, they said. A 21-year-old woman who was in the car with Barrett also was struck by gunfire.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was transported to Cooper University Medical Center in Camden. She remains hospitalized but is expected to survive, the prosecutor said Thursday.

A preliminary investigation revealed that two gunmen wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks approached the vehicle and fired several shots before fleeing on foot in opposite directions. The victims were the only occupants of the vehicle.

No arrests have been made.
